in and of itself, i mean it's just owls, and i'd be insane if every time I saw an owl pop up somewhere I thought "THAT'S TWIN PEAKS!!"

But then here's the next one....

I can see how "Did you know that some owls aren't that wise?" could stretch to "The owls are not what they seem".

And I was kinda hoping for a closer match on the flannel shirt to the Olsen Twins in the second one, but maybe it's something:

And I've been in a hell of a lot of theatres/cinemas that have red curtains, but the combination of factors ... who knows?

Possibly.

Certainly we want to pay attention more when a number of possible connections appear together rather than loose ideas in the singular.

Here's the director's page on Creativity Online:

I might have a dig through some of his other ads and whatnot to see if it turns anything else up.

I do try to find more than two or three datapoints before posting something like this.

owls on their own. nope.

red curtains on it's own. nope.

microphone in center of stage with red curtains. getting warmer.

add them all together. well. even if it's still only a slim chance it's enough to get me to post this.

how this came about by the way is some dude on the imdb board posted the GEICO woodchuck chucks wood commercial in response to my observation that Woody Katz plays the role of Chuck in Mr. Brown's movie.

Another Mr. Brown

Did we do the Mr. Brown wordplay thing somewhere? A bell is going off in the back of my mind.

Not that I remember, we do have Mr Roque/Castigliane word play though.

not to change the subject, but you sort of just brought it up anyway....

Ray talking to himself?

Michael J. Anderson was playing Ray. He IS Ray. This is not negotiable. David told the guy who played Ray, that he wants to bring in "little Mike" to play his character. He represents him. In the pilot, Ray has to go deeper and deeper into a building, down corridors, through doors - metaphorically deeper into his own subconscious to find a justification for what he has to do. - (TristanLove)

non-negotiable????? so is there a citation on this?? like an interview or quote or something where David Lynch revealed that Ray Hott is Mr. Roque??

That's a direct quote from Little Mike who long time RT contributor TristanLove bumped into by chance one time in the line of her work.

oh.... ok... but still in a world where the rapture of getting lost down the rabbit hole is more in favor than actual answers, the phrase "non-negotiable" sort of jumps out at you and says "boo." I had to laugh.

There were a few other bits and pieces about her conversations with Mike, but Tristan asked for her posts to be deleted on RT due to a personal/privacy issue, so we unfortunately lost all her posts.
